Mesoscale Discussion 0292
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
1158 PM CDT Sat Mar 29 2025
Areas affected...Northeast Texas
Concerning...Severe Thunderstorm Watch 67...
Valid 300458Z - 300700Z
The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 67
continues.
SUMMARY...A severe threat is likely continue for a couple more hours
across parts of northeast Texas. Isolated large hail and severe wind
gusts will be the primary threats. Although a local watch extension
will be possible, weather watch issuance appears unlikely to the
east of the current watch.
DISCUSSION...The latest WSR-88D imagery from Fort Worth shows a line
of severe storms extending from near the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex
southward to just north of Waco. This line is located along the
eastern edge of a corridor of moderate instability, where the RAP is
analyzing MLCAPE in the 1500 to 2000 J/kg range. In addition, the
Fort Worth WSR-88D VWP has 0-6 km shear around 40 knots with some
directional shear in the lowest 1 km AGL. This will likely continue
to support a severe potential with supercells embedded in the line.
Isolated large hail and severe wind gusts will be the primary
threats. The severe threat is expected to persist for a couple more
hours, but may become more isolated with time as instability begins
to weaken across the region.
